This is a showstopper of a coat and so elegant. It's just one of those garments that instantly makes an outfit.
Long length tapestry brocade fabric spring coat. Beautiful vivid pattern of florals and little baroque figures in subdued dusky shades of yellow, red, green and blue against black. Large frog closure fastenings in black to the chest, giving it a subtle military flare. Standing collar and long slim fitting sleeves with softly puffed shoulders. Coat is fitted to the bust and has a gentle a-line flare towards the hem. Fully lined in black. No makers labels or content tags, I think it is possible that this was tailored for someone. As such there is not much to go on when dating it. The cut and style is very 1970s, but it is possible that it is slightly more modern, the fabric feels very crisp and new to me, but it could also be that it has just been kept well. It's a really special piece, just stunning on, and it's giving me all the Gucci Maximalism vibes!
