Lovely early 40s tea dress in a beautiful green colour with a small circular novelty print with tiny flowers, stars, and what looks like goats or some sort of animals. Soft orange, pale pastel green and yellow tones. Bodice has sewn in gathers to the shoulders and a high standing neck and fantastic heavy clear glass ball buttons and loop fasteners to the neck. Short puffed sleeves. Fitted waist and a softly a-lined skirt with stitched down pleats in front. Fastens with small popper buttons to the side panel. Fabric feels like rayon.
The dress is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a Small. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Chest: 38" but meant to fit blousey
Shoulder to waist: 15"
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 14.5" (fits a bit fuller due to the puff sleeve)
-Some small signs of wear around the buttoning, and one tiny darn just by the buttoning at the waist, see photo, nothing you would see when worn.
-Bias band to the inside of the cuff is a bit worn, but this is not visible on the outside when worn.
-Hem has been altered (possibly shortened?) and handstitched in place.
-Dress has belt loops but does not come with the original belt.
-I'm not sure if the buttons are original, they could be a replacement but they are spectacular!
All in all presents beautifully.
