Stunning 50s dress by Frank Usher, London. Really interesting novelty print of a building facade design with large windows and ornate panelling in sketchy brushstrokes in black and cream. Fitted drop waisted bodice with a natural nipped in waist, sleeveless cut and a wide rounded neckline. Skirt is 2 tiered with a longer full peplum over skirt and a slightly more fitted underskirt which reaches to below the knee. The overskirt is trimmed in black, slightly weighted and has stiffening canvas to the side of the hips to give it shape and structure. Back metal zipper to fasten. Soft cotton. Very unusual piece, and utterly stunning and beautifully made.
Pictured with a black belt which is not included in the sale.
The dress is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a Small. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Dropped waist: 28"
Shoulder to natural waist: 14-14.5"
Shoulder to dropped waist: 16.5"
Good condition. Some very faint underarm discolouration, shown in last photo, and one faint tea coloured mark to the peplum, also shown circled in photos. Neither detracts particularly when worn. I have not dry cleaned, so may improve with dry cleaning.
