Lovely 40s autumn coat by Harrods. Light wool weave with a diagonal rib texture and a fantastic - very art deco - gradiated ombre striped band design in shades of nutty brown. Wide v-tip collar and a single large button to the neck. Long very slightly flared sleeves with wide cuffs and padded shoulders. Open cut front from the top button down with a fairly straight cut silhouette, very softly a-lined from the bust down. Slot pockets on the waist. Maroon lining.
The coat is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a modern day Small to Medium, fit is slightly flexible due to the fairly open cut.
Chest: approx 38" when fully closed
Waist: approx 40"when closed
Sleeve, from underarm to cuff: 14.5"
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam at top back: 14.5-15"
Length: 42.5" from nape to hem
Good condition, presents really well but has some signs of wear to be noted:
-There are some small scattered holes, some of which have been carefully patched and darned, see photos. The most noticeable being on the bust and shoulder. Some tiny little scuffs in places.
-Lining is in good condition. I've only found one small hole at the back, which does not effect the wear or is visible when worn. Label to the neck is a little bit tatty around the edges and looks like it has been resewn at some point.
-Looking at the inside of the hem, I think this might have been rehemmed or shortened in it's life. This can't be seen when worn, only when examining the inside seams.
-A couple of tiny smudges on the hem, see photos.
Still presents beautifully despite the slight wear. Priced accordingly.
