Lovely late 40s / early 50s autumn/winter dress in very dark grey wool with colourful threaded stripes in yellow, red, and bright green. Bodice has a high collarless choker neckline with a short back metal zipper to fasten. Half dolman -esque sleeve with underarm gusset patch. Waistline nips in and the skirt has short sewn in pleats to the upper hip, which opens out 2" below the waist for a full skirt. Side metal zipper to fasten. Label font is hard to make out but I think A. Bulloughs Co, Carlisle, most likely for the Bullough's department store.
The dress is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a Small. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Shoulder to waist: 15.5"
Sleeve from underarm to cuff: 10.5"
(There is a 1.8" hem on this)
Very good condition. Small repairs to the corners of the underarm gusset but not easily noticeable and hide well in the wool weave, see last photo, which have been highlighted to show detail, it's much less obvious in real life.
