Beautiful lilac rayon 40s/50s dress by Paul Sargent. Beautiful crisp fabric with very elegant cuff link buttons and a big matching brooch to the chest pocket. These are very ornate curved almond shaped designs in silver metal with pearls and rhinestones. Dress is a lightweight shirtwaister style with a collared v-neck, gathered shoulder seams and padded shoulders. Short sleeve with turn up cuffs. Fitted waist with matching belt with covered buckle. Softly gored skirt in seven panels. Side metal zipper to fasten. Age wise, this is a bit of a strange one, the Paul Sargent label almost soley come up for 40s dresses in searches and the cut and style on this looks bang on late 40s, the shirred gathers, the stitched belt, the shoulder padding and fabric, but the Union label would date this to mid 50s, so it's a mid to late 50s dress made in a 40s style/pattern.
The dress is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a Large. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Fit on model: clipped to fit
Shoulder to natural waist: 16.5"
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: approx 16" to edge of shoulder pad
(There is a 2" hem on this)
Very good condition. Fabric looks barely worn. Two small marks on the shoulder. Hem has been taken up but without cutting the fabric so a generous hem with original bias band internally.
