Lovely lightweight 40s rayon dress in a subdued colourway of turquoise, black and beige/sand colour. Subtle novelty print of what looks like an exotic cityscape with a balcony with umbrella and seat, bushy foliage and street lights and house facades. Bodice fastens with the front with four covered buttons and have a soft dolman short sleeve and a v-neck with a narrow shawl collar. Waist is fitted and fastens with a side metal zipper. Skirt is softly flared and has a centre front pleat/drape design and curved hip pockets. No makers labels. Really lovely and floaty feel to the fabric, like all 40s dresses, the drape and fall is just lovely.
The dress is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a Medium. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Waist: 28" stretches to 29"
Hip: 40-41" (some extra in the front pleat but the drape of the skirt would probably look best on a 40" hip or so)
Shoulder to waist: 16"
Good condition, structurally very sound and wearable with some flaws, none that detract too much when worn:
-Some slight areas of discolouration to the skirt, see photos, but these hide well in the busy print. Some very faint underarm discolouration but this is not easy to spot when worn, see photo.
-Buttons have sadly rusted a little bit around the edges. I think it is a little bit less noticeable in real life than in the close up photo, but you could replace them if you prefered it.
-A tiny darn and a tiny hole by the front pleat on the skirt. I also found the odd tiny pin hole in the fabric, but these wouldn't be visible when worn.
-There is a very faint crease line a couple of inches up from the hem, so this has possibly been rehemmed and then let down again.
Priced accordingly and sold as is.
