Really stunning 50s cotton dress in a lovely black and vivid blue and grey floral print. I love this type of dark floral, and the blue really pops against the black! Bodice has short sleeves and a very interesting high choker style neckline. Fitted darts add fullness to the bust. Waist is nipped in and the skirt full, sewn in box pleats over the back and front hip, with an unpleated centre to the front. Back metal zipper fastener. Handmade.
Dress is pictured with a petticoat which is not included in the sale.
The dress is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a Small. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Chest: 34" flat (but does have some hard to measure fullness, fits me snugly at 36", but would probably best fit someone a little bit smaller)
Shoulder to waist: 15.5"
(There is a very generous 3" hem on this - feels like another couple of inches under the fold, but might leave a fade line if let down)
Neckline measures about 6.2" flat across, so approx 12-12.5" in circumference, I found it quite snug fitting, so you might want to double check this measurement
Very good condition. As the dress is handmade, many of the finishes, such as hem, and sleeve cuffs, zipper and collar are done with handstitches, this is mostly not very noticeable and the stitches are tiny and neat, but just wanted to note this to give and idea as of how it has been constructed. See photos of waist seam and zipper for example. One faint fade? mark near the neck, see photo. Freshly laundered.
