50s evening coat in a lustrous mustard coloured faille / grosgrain fabric. Fairly lightweight, and fully lined in a light orangey rayon. Beautiful silhoutte with a fit and flare design and a single breasted chest with three small polished shank buttons to the waist. Wide lapels and really stunning loose fitting sleeves with turn up cuffs. Skirt is softly paneled and flared with concealed slot pockets to the hips. Lining is a little bit more narrow than the outer fabric, so doesn't accomodate a very large petticoat. Really lovely unusual colour that works well for spring/summer, but also would be an amazing transitional piece for early autumn. Label is Brenner Sports.
Coat is pictured with both a petticoat and without a petticoat in the photos. It's pinned to fit the model.
The coat is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a modern day Large, approx a UK14 in my estimation. For your best fit please refer to the measurements, and remember to allow a little room for movement.
Chest: 40" (I would allow a couple of inches of room for movement, so might be best for a 38" chest)
Sleeve, from underarm to cuff: 18"
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam at top back: 15"
Length: 43" from nape to hem
-Coat has been taken up and hand hemmed.
-There is some faint markings around the back of the hem, see photo and one small darker ink? spot further up the back of the skirt, also photographed. Some slight grubbiness around the cuffs, also photographed.
