Lovely early 50s cotton day dress in a beautiful brick red cotton with a striking white floral daisy print in bands. Bodice is fitted and sleeveless and has a wide collar to the neck and three small faceted black buttons to the chest. Waist has an attached tie belt to cinch the silhouette in. Skirt is cut on the diagonal with the floral bands lining up in a chevron style. Generous a-line fit with two wide front pleats for additional fullness. Dress fastens with a side metal zipper. Handmade.
Dress is pictured with a petticoat which is not included in the sale.
The dress is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a Small. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Chest: 35" (best fit slightly smaller, I would estimate 33-34" chest)
Waist: 27-27.5" (can be cinched in with the tie belt)
Shoulder to waist: 15.5"
(There is a 1.8" hem on this)
Good condition with some discreet signs of wear and repair.
-Cotton shows some light even fade.
-A tiny tears have been repaired to the underarms on either side. This is quite discreetly done and has been backed with a patch to strengthen. It's not very noticeable when worn.
-The faintest bit of colour bleeding from the thread by the zipper, though this is so slight I don't think you would see it when worn.
