Fantastic novelty dress in a bold Egyptian print. Black textured cotton with vivid contrasting print in yellow, pink, light blue, grey and teal. The pattern is beautifully aligned with the pleats of the skirt and features an amazing border bird print around the hem. Bodice is fitted with a straight cut neck and short sleeves. Shoulders feature thin straps which have been backed with black fabric. Waistline nips in and the skirt is full and falls in wide box pleats. Nylon side zipper, which I think is a replacement.

Dating wise, I fairly sure this an original 50s piece, the way the seams are finished inside would suggest this, no overlocking and the raw edges are handsewn. The zipper however is modern but it looks like this has been replaced. There are two lines of stitching alongside it, one looks like the older original stitching which is slightly lighter. No makers labels, and looks handmade.

Dress is pictured with a petticoat which is not included in the sale.

SIZE
The dress is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a Small. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Chest: 34.5"
Waist: 25"
Hip: free
Shoulder to waist: 15.5"
Length: 42"

CONDITION
Very good condition.
-A couple of tiny tiny spots on the hem.
-I also wonder if the hem has been let down, though there are no signs of this, the current hem is not sewn, just made from the selvage edge, which seems unorthodox, but isn't noticeable when worn.
