70s OSSIE CLARK FOR RADLEY FLORAL CREPE CHIFFON DRAWSTRING DRESS - M
Lovely crepe chiffon Ossie Clark for Radley in black with a romantic colourful floral print. It is not labeled as such, but I've found and Ossie on pinterest with the same print which has the Celia Birtwell label on the fabric, so most likely designed by her. Lovely loose fit with a drawstring waistline and short peplum. Sweetheart bodice with a sheer black shoulder and ruffled neck which ties in front with a keyhole slit. Skirt is tiered with the floral overlay reaching below the knee, and the plain black underfabric reaching mid calf. No fasteners, this pulls over the head. Material is labeled as viscose. Absolutely stunning.
Dress is labeled a size 10 or a 34" chest but due to the drawstring waist, the size is a little bit flexible, I think this could suit up to a UK12, but please refer to the measurements.
Fit on model: fits as shown unpinned.
Waist: 38" unstretched but cinches in to fit with the drawstring
16" shoulder to waist
Good condition, presents very well, some small flaws visible on close inspection.
-Small area of some faint foxing marks to the hem, hides well in the print, see photo.
-A couple of tiny pin holes in the sheer black upper bodice, to the back. see photo.
-Most notably, I'm fairly certain this has been rehemmed. I'm not sure what the original design would have been if a midi or a maxi, but most Ossies were full length. It now has a tiered design with the inner fabric slightly longer and the floral outer material. The hem on the upper tier does look very similar to the original hem on the peplum which is also finished with a running stitch so it is possible that this originally was tiered, it's very hard to say, but the black underfabric has definitely been rehemmed.
Priced down to reflect the alteration.
