Fantastic handmade novelty cotton full skirt in soft evening pastel tones with a very rare Versaille gardens and fountains print. Soft shades of pink, light blue, purple, lilac and green. The print is stunning, beautifully detailed - it's not labeled, but I've seen some attributions on Etsy of the same fabric to John Wolf. High wide waistband with back metal zip and two hidden popper buttons. Very full fit with generous length. Completely handmade. Fabric is original 50s, but as it is handmade it is hard to say when exactly it has been constructed, I felt the thread used and the popper buttons look a little bit later than 50s, so could have been constructed from the original fabric at a later point. But the fabric is a 50s original and the cut and style is classic 50s era.
Pictured with a petticoat which is not included in the sale.
Not labeled with a size but fits approx a UK12 or a 29-29.5" waist. Please refer to the measurements.
Length: 29" (very short hem so can not be let down further)
Good condition, no flaws such as marks or holes to note.
This has been handmade and most likely homesewn, the finishes are a little bit imperfect in places, though one the whole this isn't very visible when worn. Some things to note re the construction:
-The inside seams are all sewn in black thread, which is an odd choice for the colour of fabric, but this can't be seen when worn as it is mostly to the inside. The hem is finished with a running stitch (which is a little bit uneven in places), and this is in the same black thread, but it does hide quite well in the print.
-There waistband is made from two pieces of fabric so there is a vertical seam slightly off centre to the front.
Priced accordingly and sold as is.
