Lovely early 50s shirtwaister day dress in a dark red and cream print with striped bands contrasted with paisley -esque patterns. Bodice is sleeveless and fastens with three large mother of pearl buttons to the chest. Collared neck with small open slit. Bustline does not have darts but has a sewn in pleat to the shoulder and small gathers to the underbust/waist to give it a little bit of fullness. Waistline nips the silhouette in and the side seam fastens with a metal zipper. Full skirt sewn in inchwide pleats, carefully matching the paisley part of the pattern up in the pleats. Fabric feels like a soft brushed rayon.
Dress is pictured with a petticoat which is not included in the sale.SIZE
The dress is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a XS, I would estimate for a size UK6, fit is petite so would best suit a short-waister person. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Fit on model:
Shoulder to waist: 14"
(There is 1.8" hem on this)
Good condition. Dress is handmade so some of the finishes are done in hand, nothing noticeable when worn.
