50s full skirt in a rust red cotton with a lovely looped circular print in cream, and black with accents of green and brown. Fitted waistband with hook and eye fastening and metal zipper to the back. Skirt is sewn in 4 panels with the pattern mirroring up, and four small darts have been sewn to the waist to give it shape. No labels, completely handmade.
A brief note on the dating of this: As it is handmade, it's hard to date with 100% certainty, the materials, (fabric, zipper, ribbon, fasteners all appear as authentic 50s, as is the pattern, but it could have been made later with original vintage materials, the only thing that threw me off when dating was the zigzag seam finish to the inside seam and the thread used which seemed a little bit more modern to me. I would still date this as most likely 1950s, but just wanted to be as transparent as possible in doing so, as I'm not 100% certain.
Pictured with a petticoat which is not included in the sale.
Not labeled with a size but fits approx a UK10 or a 28.5" waist. Please refer to the measurements.
Length: 29.5" (1" hem)
Good condition. Not professionally made skirt so some finishes are a little bit handmade in nature, some handstitching (to the hem and zipper which is invisibly handsewn in, and it looks like the skirt was originally backed in some sort of stiffening interfacing material which has been cut out, leaving only some edges at the seams and hem. Waistband is backed with a grosgrain ribbon. None of this really shows when worn.
