50s sun dress by Tishbrie Model. Lovely printed cotton in cream with a novelty print in green, orange, black and grey - semi abstract design with modernist figures and shapes, little people and squiggly patterns. Strapless bodice with curved boning to the bust and a cute sweetheart bust with ruffled trim. Waistline nips in and the skirt is beyond full circle for a showstopping silhouette when worn with a petticoat. Back metal zipper to fasten.
Dress is pictured with a petticoat which is not included in the sale. It's also shown with a black belt on the model but this is not included either.
The dress is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a S-M. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Chest: 35" (little bit of hard to measure fullness with the curved boning, so I can fit this as a 36" bust)
Top of bust to waist: 10.7"
(There is a short hem on this)
Good condition with signs of wear and alteration:
-On the inside of the bodice the boning has been resewn in slighlty where it had poked out of the cotton bands, this isn't visible when worn. Also some signs of seams having been resewn, though again, only something you can see unless scrutinizing the inside seam, not visible on the outside.
-The bodice darts to the back of the bodice have been opened up.
-Zipper has been resewn in I think, but does look like the original zip, or an original metal zip from the era to replace. A couple of small spots of fraying to the zipper placket.
-Has been rehemmed and hem is finished with a running stitch which is a little bit uneven in places, but not very noticeably when actually worn. See photo.
-Some faint discolouration and some slight marks, which hides well in the busy print, so does not detract. See photos.
Dress has belt loops but no belt.
