Beautiful Hungarian peasant smock blouse in crisp white with lovely colourful floral embroidery in bright primary greens, yellows, pinks, reds and blues. Short sleeve with gathered stitching to cuff. Smocking to neckline with a small v-slit in front fastened with a pearly button. Blousey draped fit to the bust and a fitted waistband with colourful smocking stitches and a small slit in the side seam which fastens with popper buttons. Cropped length. No labels. Embdoidery looks handdone, as is the stitching to cuffs and neckline. Fabric feels like a silky synthetic crepe, possibly rayon or viscose. Looks very 40s, but due the fabric I think this is slightly later, I'd estimate early 60s era. A great summer staple, light and airy and so delicate!
The shirt is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a Small. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Chest: hard to measure as front is gathered for fullness, but pit seam to pit seam across the back is 17", so I would estimate this to be designed for a 34-36" chest)
Waist: 26" to 28" stretched
Very good condition.
