50s 2 piece dress set in a ash grey cotton with a darker grey, black, pink and yellow abstract square print. Dress is a sun dress style with a boned bodice and thin halter straps. Neckline has a chartreuse underlayer with small v-slits to the sides of the bust. Bust is boned and nicely curved. Waistline nips the silhouette in and the skirt has a classic full fit, sewn in inchwide pleats to the waistband. Matching cropped bolero jacket which has short sleeves with a chartreuse waistband which ties in front. No labels but looks commercially made.
Dress is pictured with a petticoat which is not included in the sale.
The dress is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a Small. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Fit on model: clipped in waist
Chest: 33" flat, but the boned bust offers a bit of hard to measure fullness, so can get it to 34" allowing for the curve
Top of bust to waist: 11"
Skirt length from waist: 25"
Length from top of bust to hem: 36"
(There is a short hem on this)
Bolero measures approx 34" in bust, high waist approx 28-30" and 13" length.
-Some alterations. Hem is finished with a running stitch and I think this has been altered. The back of the bodice looks like it has been let out, the bust to waist ratio is a little bit less extreme than on most 50s dresses, I think for this reason. There are some faint signs of ghost stitches from old seams. Zipper is original vintage metal zip, but looks like it has been replaced or refitted. Some light overall fade and some light signs of wear to the cotton.
