Very rare high end late 60s cropped bolero jacket by Elinor Simmons for Malcolm Starr. This is such a fantastic piece, so beautifully made with lavish soutache and ribbon design, very on brand for the Starr label. It is a fabulous fusion of Victorian mourning wear and Matador glamour. Soft wool crepe with dramatic ribbon and soutchade trimmings. It's beautifully weighty. Short length with 3/4 sleeves and an open front. Lightweight silky red lining. A real statement piece.
SIZE
The jacket is labeled a size 10 but fits approx like a XS. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Fit on model: as shown
Chest: approx 34" (probably best suited for a 32" or smaller as fabric is quite thick and lined)
Waist: approx 28"
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 15"
Sleeve from underarm to cuff: 13.5
Length: 15.5"
CONDITION
Very good condition. There is some very minor signs of wear to the ribbon work, the odd little loose thread, but this is all very minor and nothing that detracts when worn. Lining has a little bit of underarm discolouration, but again, this is very slight.
