Lovely lightweight 40s shirtwaister dress in a light blue with contrasting white collar and cuffs. The style gives me subtle Alice in Wonderland vibes, but also looks a bit like a nurses uniform. Blousey fitting bodice with gathers to the bust and a cute patch pocket to the chest. Short puffed sleeves. Cute collared neckline. Four small cream buttons to the chest. Waist is fitted and comes with a matching tie belt. Fabric feels like a soft cottony rayon. Softly a-lined skirt. Fastens to the side seam with popper buttons.
The dress is not labeled with a size but fits approx like a Small, I would estimate a UK10 approx. I would advice leaving a little bit of room for movement compared to the measurements as this fits best a little bit loosely. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Chest: 36" (with the gathers full stretched I can get this to 39", but this is intended to fit a bit blousey and loose fitting, so I think it would best suit around a 34-35" chest or smaller)
Waist: 29" (can be cinched in with the belt)
Shoulder to waist: 15"
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 13.5" (allows for a bit more due to the puffed sleeve.
(There is no hem to let down on this)
Good condition with some flaws:
-Some small scattered marks, mainly to the skirt, see photos.
-Tiny darn hidden under the collar, and discreet repairs to the top and bottom of the buttoned slit to the underarm, none of these visible when worn, see photos.
-Some small signs of wear to the fabric, a few tiny little scuffs and the odd pluck and a some signs of wear along a line above the hem, where it looks like this was let down at some point in it's life. I think the current hem is original but it looks like someone has added a bias band and seam to back the hemline.
-Button paint finish is crackling a little bit.
Priced accordingly and sold as is.
