Amazing early 60s pleated wool tartan skirt in pure new wool. The ingenious design is called "The 2 way skirt" and the pleating pattern matchedn and sewn down to the upper hip to create two different coloured sides, one side is a classic Stewart dress tartan in red, green, white and yellow, whereas the reverse is sewn to feature the red patterning creating a more colourful version. It's lovely. High fitted waist, full fit, which works well with a petticoat underneath too. Two side silver metal zip and buttons to the waistband.
Skirt is pictured with a petticoat which is not included in the sale.
SIZE
The skirt is labeled a vintage size 10 (text is faded but I think it also says to fit 92cm hip, which would be about 36.3") Fits approx like a Small or a UK8. For your best fit please refer to the measurements.
Fit on model: fits like a glove
Waist: 26" (would work for slightly smaller too)
High Hip: approx 37" at 8" down from top of waistband where the pleats are sewn down to
Length: 29"
CONDITION
Good condition, some small signs of wear but nothing that is really noticeable when worn.
-Three small darns on the hem and the odd little scuff in the wool.
-There are a few small faint marks, but these hide in the pleats. (Some of these are photographed from either side of the skirt, so there will be two photos of the same mark.
One of the buttons have been replaced.
See photos, still presents very nicely.
