50s swimsuit by Rose Marie Reid in a dusky pastel blue. This is fully boned all the way down to the hip along the sides and to the front at the waist and has a cotton lining to the bust with boning vertically for a strong vintage silhouette. Straps sewn in at front and hook on at back, so could be worn in a few different ways or tied in a halter. Bust is very sculptural with a pointed overlay with zigzagging lacey stitchwork. Low cut hip with elastication. Chunky back metal zip.
SIZE
The swimsuit is not labeled with a size, but fits approx like a modern day Medium, I would estimate approx a large UK12 or small UK14, I think measurements look best a little bit stretched, so best suited for the upper end of the measurements, but please refer to the measurements.
Fit on model: clipped to fit
Chest: 34" unstretched to approx 37" stretched
Underbust: approx 31" to 32" stretched
Waist: 29" unstretched stretches to approx 32"
Hip: 30" unstretched to approx 44" max stretched
Leg opening: approx 18" to 24" stretched (this is elasticated so you could open up and loosen the elastic to make this fit less tight.
Length: 25" approx from top of bust to gusset
CONDITION
Good condition but a little bit of a wounded bird and priced as such.
-There is some faint streaky fade and discolouration around the midriff. It's slight but not invisible. Straps are a bit faded with some slight colourloss. One small dark pent tip sized spot to upper back. Discolouration to gusset lining. Have have hand laundered and spot treated.
-Fabric is a little bit stretched with age, slightly less clingy than would have originally been and some wear around the waist area.
